• Two Vancouver-based and women-led organizations come together to reduce food waste in our city
• Portion of proceeds from 50 exclusive Peko Boxes help fund Food Stash’s Mission to give dignified access to people experiencing food insecurity 

This October 19th, 2022, Peko Produce and Food Stash Foundation will join forces to bring you a “peculiar” food box like no other! For our pilot, there will be 50 boxes available every Wednesday and 60% of Peko's proceeds would go into supporting Food Stash’s operations. This partnership will allow shoppers to save on groceries, rescue food from going to waste and support local charity Food Stash Foundation, which helps feed more than 350 food insecure individuals weekly while also supplying rescued food to over 30 charities who collectively serve about 15,000 a week. 

58% of food in Canada is wasted, and only 4% of edible food is rescued; that’s where Food Stash and Peko step in - collectively saving 94,500lb of food each month. With Waste Reduction week approaching, it seemed like the perfect time to launch this pilot project that will help prevent edible food from ending up in our landfills. 

You can order your exclusive Peko x Food Stash produce box starting this September 26th (12PM), until October 16th (12PM). Every box weighs 10-12lbs and has 9-10 variety of organic as well as conventional produce. Subscribe to get your fruit and vegetable box at a discounted price of $29.99, or place a one-time order at $32.99. The first boxes will be delivered on Wednesday, October 19th.

About Food Stash Foundation: Established in 2016 to prevent good food from going to waste and provide dignified food access. Food Stash rescues over 85,000 pounds of surplus perishable food per month from 20 local grocery stores and wholesalers. About 75% of this healthy food is delivered to over 30 community-serving partner organizations, and the remainder is provided directly to community members through Rescued Food Box home deliveries and a pay-what-you-feel Rescued Food Market.
